Materials and Care

Can you customize a bag?

Presently, we’re not accepting custom or one-off jobs. This is to keep costs reasonable. We cannot easily change dimensions of the bag, because that would require drawing up new patterns.

What material do we use?

  • Cotton canvas, 14 oz coated with Smartrepel Hydro, it is eco and nature friendlier protection that keeps your bag dry. The unique technology offers exceptional, durable water repellency and it is fluorine-free.
  • YKK ZIPPERS, Japanese fastener
  • Vegetable tanned leather
  • Brass rivet, no rust

Cotton canvas

Cotton canvas is a natural product. Slight weaving imperfections and color variations are part of its character and beauty.¬†Canvas keeps on performing after years of use. There’s no coating to wear off. Abrasion resistance is high compared to synthetics; its natural fibers are more forgiving and pliable. If damaged, it’s easily repaired with needle and thread.

Will the canvas color fade over time?

Of course! The color of our canvas bags may fade overtime. Dark bag like black is going to eventually turn grey especially when exposed to sunlight. Lighter colors will also fade, but it’s less noticeable. This just adds to the character of the bag it will develop a beautiful and unique style. Think of your favorite pair of jeans! If you don’t care for that “lived in” look, then canvas bags are probably not for you.

Care for canvas products

  • If you want to make the bag more water resistant, you can treat it with a product made specifically to protect cotton garments. The canvas can also be waxed to protect it from rain. We recommend our Tangent Fabric Wax.
  • Spot clean your bags with a damp sponge or bristle brush. If the bag is heavily soiled, use mild soap and cold water, and do this only if necessary and on specific areas. Never use detergent. Do not machine wash or machine dry.
